Planting trees
We implemented our first project in the Halleggerteiche nature reserve . We see reforestation as an investment in the future to make our environment more livable and sustainable . The forest as the lungs of life. We heard about a reforestation project from the Hallegg Castle estate manager, Mr. Joachim Helmigk, and immediately decided to get involved. On Monday, March 18, 2024, "25 GeMa yew trees" were delivered to Hallegg. The young trees were planted in the Hallegg nature reserve just in time for the start of spring on March 20, 2024, almost at the same time as our shop opening. Mr. Helmigk recommended the yew tree for the project because it is a rare and lovable rarity in our forests. Its dense stands provide habitat for a variety of animal and plant species and contribute to the preservation of biodiversity.
"Trees are poems that the earth writes in the sky." (Khalil Gibran)
The yew is a sacred tree full of magic:
The yew is an evergreen coniferous tree that prefers to grow in the shade and can grow up to 20 meters tall. It likes company and lives in communities with deciduous and coniferous trees. It is considered one of the oldest tree species in Europe and can live for over 1000 years. The Celts and their spiritual leaders, the Druids, considered the yew a sacred tree because of its connection to eternity, and equated it with the world tree. Yew trees were used as magic wands, divining rods and to protect against evil spirits. It is time to bring them back into our consciousness as a world tree. The yew is the tree of creation and symbolizes the origin of all life and the unity of all being. For us, the yew is: " The GeMa -START-POWER-TREE".
GeMa cooperation with Lebenshilfe Kärnten
The GeMa Shop went online on March 24, 2024. We are happy that a lot of GeMa poles have been bought in the first few days and, what makes us especially happy, the first 100 pole bags Jessi and Lisi - handmade.
As already announced, once we have sold 100 stick bags, we intend to hand over further production to Lebenshilfe Kärnten as a work project. The workshop at Bahnstrasse 42 offers people with special needs the opportunity to do meaningful work. It also accepts commissioned work and is proud to produce high-quality, hand-made products. The employees are talented and passionate, so we are very pleased that we have found cooperation partners in Mr. Daniel Rieger-Pirker and the many committed people with whom we can realize another heart project: By people, with people and for people. The workshop on Bahnstrasse is a place of creativity and commitment where everyone has the chance to develop their potential. We were happy to commission this Lebenshilfe workshop to produce the next 100 stick bags.
